We tried to make a home made water filter. It did not work very well. Our team recycled a two liter bottle. Mud was put into water to make the water dirty. We used wood chips, rocks, and paper towels. We tested it with a water tester, but it didn't test all of the elements in the water.
The Steps
Step 1- Get a two liter water bottle and poke three hole in the lid. Put wood chips, rocks, and paper towel in the bottle in a certain order. You put two paper towels in, then a cup of wood chips, a cup of rocks, and two more paper towels. (You don' have to have a two liter bottle if you don't have one).
Step 2- Use the bottom of the bottle that you cut off and put water and mud into it. Swirl the water around. Put the bottom of the bottle under the bottle. The water goes through the wood chips, rocks, and paper towels.
Step 3- Use the water tester and test the water. ( You can poor the dirty water back into the bottle if you want to).
